Activity description
Re Mat is an innovative start-up founded in 2018 created with the aim of bringing a real revolution in the polyurethane foam supply chain. Until now, the polyurethane deriving from industrial processing waste was mainly disposed of in landfills or given to waste-to-energy plants. In fact, it is estimated that in Italy about 5 million mattresses are disposed of every year, a quantity equal to the surface of 1,600 football fields.The innovative production process of Re Mat allows the recovery of industrial polyurethane waste and, first in Italy, to transform a waste - end-of-life mattresses - into secondary raw material with technical performance comparable to that of virgin polyurethane. This operation allows the saving of virgin raw materials and the recovery and recycling of polyurethane already used, thus characterizing itself as a concrete circular economy initiative.
